Brief
I’ve had a night at The Hoxton Hotel on my hotel bucket list ever since enjoying a cocktail at their location in Amsterdam, and finally had the opportunity to stay at their LA outpost. The place drips in swag, if we can even claim that to be an appropriate design term, in a way that evokes design excellence without pretension. With locations in Amsterdam, Chicago, LA, London, Paris, Portland, NY, the Hoxton brand has truly made a name for itself in the world of boutique hotels, and their commitment to historic preservation makes the spaces feel rooted, accessible, and inspired.
If there were one hotel where I would want to extrapolate many design lessons for my own home, the Hoxton would certainly be one of them! I loved the colors and texture in the front lobby spaces — almost like earth tones, but luxe. The spaces struck a perfect balance between mid-century modern and “I pulled this from my grandmother’s house, she didn’t want it anymore” attitude towards accessorizing, with fresh, clean color on the walls that immediately transports you to a beloved cafe in Paris.
The bedrooms were no exception, either — I’ll admit, seeing a photo of the headboards before my trip took me from a mindset of “it would be nice to stay there” to “I obviously can’t stay anywhere else.” I slept more comfortably than I had in any other night of the trip, and enjoyed taking in all of the details in the room feel so full of charm and warmth, like the Smeg tea kettle and the vintage stereo on the nightstand. And y’all, the bathroom - iconic, truly!
Overall, would recommend a night at the Hoxton hands down, and can’t wait to cross a few other locations off of my list!
