Hudson, NY Field Guide
An idyllic weekend trip, there is probably never a bad time to swing through Hudson and the Catskills, generally. I bet even the winter is beautiful. I visited at the tail end of fall with my friend Liv, and though the city had shed most of her leaves by then, the train ride up from NYC was just magical, with blankets of orange, yellow, and red leaves draped heavily across the landscape. We arrived Thursday afternoon and had three full days to explore, which was admittedly a bit too much for Hudson alone – we probably could have spent a day in another town, before leaving on Monday morning. Hudson was smaller than expected – plenty of shops and restaurants packed onto Main Street, but not much beyond. If you are visiting the area, I’d recommend following along @thisoldhudson and seeing if you can sneak a peek at any of the homes that are on the market. Real estate snooping is always a wise way to diversify your trip experience! PS, a shout out to my friend Whitley who provided so many great recommendations for this trip!
