In & around
Frederick
This has to be one of my favorite not-so-small towns near DC. The first time I visited, I was so pleasantly surprised – the downtown is more than pint-sized, so there is plenty to do in throughout the day and quite a few good options for lunch and dinner. They’ve got great shops to wander into, and the architecture of the city is so pleasing, especially in the fall. Below, some of my favorite memories & recommendations.
My favorite memories
Strolling the main streets along S Market Street & W Patrick Street
Shopping at Emporium Antiques, Perennial Home & Garden, Creme de la Creme, Elliotts, & Relish Decor
Hoffmann Brothers for Ice Cream - my friend Jordan and I still talk about the honey graham ice cream to this day.
Going to Burnt Hill Farm nearby; I’ve gone for a wine tasting & the chef’s table experience, and both were exceptional. This is such a special place!

Recommendation:
An evening at Burnt Hill
Arguably the most beautiful vineyard near DC, and quite possibly one of the most picturesque in the country, Burnt Hill is a an absolute treat. I’ve visited for both a wine tasting and the full chef’s table experience, and would recommend both wholeheartedly. It’s not a place to visit in a rush and reservations are required, but whether you are celebrating a special occasion or making an occasion of it, you will leave impressed and inspired – and with perhaps a few bottles to go in hand.
