Georgetown / my guide to the neighborhood
I live on the Hill, but I’d like argue that I am a part time resident of Georgetown – on any given week, I am there at least 3 to 4 times, either to meet up with clients, make returns, or just browse around and daydream about the home I’ll call my own there someday (requirement: it must fit a baby grand piano in the bay window). I am admittedly insistent about avoiding it on the weekends, but sometimes it can’t be helped. Below, my go to places for eating, shopping, & exploring in this treasured neighborhood – the same list I forward to my real estate clients who now (luckily) call Georgetown home.
Cafes
Baked & Wired, for something sweet & rarely crowded
Boulangerie Christophe, for a great baguette
Yellow, though never when there is a line
LA Burdick, a pretty chocolate shop with a few seats
Flor, a beautiful and thoughtful cafe tucked away
Blue Bottle Coffee, basic I know, but great on a sunny day when they perhaps have the windows open
South Block, for when I need a quick smoothie fix en route to Virginia
Sara’s Market, off the main path, but they sometimes have sandwiches
Lunch or Dinner
Osteria Mozza, a gorgeous space with Italian classics
L’Avant Garde, for a nice night out with French flair
Chez Billy Sud, romantic, cozy, and French – lovely for lunch or dinner
La Bonne Vache, my go to for a ladies' lunch or a leisurely moment on my own
Greco, fresh, easy, and filling greek food (fast casual)
River Club, defiantly fabulous and fun
Kyojin Sushi, clubby but delicious
Villa Yara, for fun Mediterranean small plates
Shops
Manse, I pretty much live here
Tuckernuck, a tiny shop considering the chokehold they have on my closet
Ann Mashburn, in my opinion the OG Tuckernuck; it’s also worth checking out Sid Mashburn next door, for the guys!
Cote Jardin, a fancy antiques shop
Pillar & Post, English inspired antiques
Dent Place Market, just a fun local spot that I tell myself I’d visit often if I lived nearby
Georgetown Flea Market on Sundays
