Charleston / 86 Cannon Street
This hotel had been on my wishlist for years! I finally made it down during April, a perfect time to visit Charleston: soft shell crab was in season, the weather was just temperate enough to lounge comfortably by the pool in the afternoon but to perhaps need to drape a sweater over your shoulders for dinner, and I could cruise around town on a bike with a basket without breaking a sweat.
86 Cannon is intimate & comfortable: perhaps you’ll chit chat with the sweet owners over a quiche at breakfast, or luck out with a visit from one of their golden doodles while napping by the pool. I wish I had spent more time catching up on my magazines in the library, drenched in pink wallcoverings and sunshine – but instead found myself answering emails from the patio here & there, catching a bit of the breeze.
The rooms: delightful. I snuck a peek of quite a few of them, but my favorite is certainly the one that overlooks the pool – it has fabulous ochre drapes, lined in little pom poms, that frame a balcony overlooking a pool.
Marion & Lori, thank you for your hospitality! It was such a treat to experience Charleston through the home away from home you’ve created.
