House & Garden tours in the DMV

Spring is a remarkable (albeit a bit chaotic) time to live in and visit DC. One of my favorite activities, though I always seem to find out about it in the weeks afterwards, is to go on a neighborhood house & garden tour. As a realtor I’m often experiencing homes in a very finished, polished state, so getting a peek behind the curtain to see how someone is authentically living in their home feels both vulnerable and delightful. Plus, it’s always a treat to see inside of a grand manse that you might otherwise only observe from the outside.

Here are some of the tours I have on my radar for this year:

Capitol Hill’s House & Garden Tour / Mother’s day weekend, May 10 & May 11

Hollin Hills House & Garden Tour / it looks like this has been postponed from 2025 to 2026. It is at the top of my wishlist!

Georgetown’s House & Garden Tour / scheduled for April 26 and 27, these tickets always sell out!

Garden Club of Virginia Historic Garden Week / this is a weeklong event with access to over 120 homes and gardens in the region, with stops in Old Town, Middleburg, and beyond throughout the week.

Maryland House & Garden Pilgrimage / there are a couple of different routes & dates scheduled through this group through May and June.

Takoma Park House & Garden Tour / scheduled for June 8.

Le Droit Park House & Garden Tour / scheduled for April 26, perhaps a less hectic option than Georgetown’s. Le Droit Park is beautiful!
